Exit Wiccans...Roo here we be

>Kar...I like you.
Shucks I like you too.

>I don't even know why I was watching it
It was strong and honest of you to admit your source.
You're still cool. Don't worry.

>Neil Peart (from Rush)
Oh I know who Neil is. I'm cool and hip, remember? Not as if "Rush knowledge" makes me cool. That ages us if anything, Doesn't it?

>I listened to the song Serenity and it was
I'll have to take a wisten.

>So I googled him and learned about how
Oh riiiiight...that's why you googled him. Mmhmm.

How old are you anyway,
I'm 33. Part of the reason we get along, i imagine. Are you on the East coast? You seem it. S'ok if you don't want to divulge.

I'm in CT. Suburbia. I mean really. It's nice tho because it's New Englandy (not corny crafty kitchy fake New England) but still has a little edge. Any farther up and it becomes much more East Jibib. Unless of course, the town's near a college.

College. The other day, my husband and I were driving around (there's a college near here), and we saw some "kids". I made some comment about high school kids and Dave said, "Uhhh, Kar-those are college kids..."!!!!!

Owwie.
I'm off to Home Depot. We just got our first house and HD has become Mecca for me. We're thinking about setting up camp in the parking lot. Heck there's a Linens 'N' Things there too so I'd be all set. Even though there's an 'N' in the name.

But on the topic of "kids", Home Depot is full of these kids that I just know (well now, anyway) are college kids working summer jobs. Zowwee. Sometime I'll post about my little flirtatious incident at HD, of which I'm mighty proud. He was a KID I tell you! And he knew I was married. My husband said it's that "unattainable housefrau" fantasy...

Yep, it sure does :-)

Mmhmm.

Well....I did paruse the interviews before parusing
the photographs...

I'm in North Carolina...

I lived for a year in Vermont after I graduated from
college. Couldn't take the winters though. Or the isolation...
those Vermonter's are hard to get to know. But I love the
landscape of that area. The air smells different...cleaner, somehow.

Oh man, I'm so jealous. I've been dreaming about houses lately.
I still rent. My boyfriend owns an old farm house out in the country.
We have discussed cohabitation, but it's really too early yet. I've
been moving a lot the past few years and just yearn to settle down in
one place and make a home. I love decorating. Painting the walls cool
colors, getting great curtains...

We're thinking about setting up camp in the
parking lot. Heck there's a Linens 'N' Things
there too so I'd be all set.

I love me some Linen's and Things. I love bed luxury. If
I were rich, I'd have the best bed ever...500 dollar sheets...
a great mattress...I'd live in bed.

Do tell! It's nice to have a young'un look at you.
it's also cool your husband has a sense of humor about it.

Well, I'm at work and it's time to go! yay!

Yup. shooooooor.
>
> I'm in North Carolina...
Awww, if you can't take the cold get out of Vermont, huh? I guess most of VT is pretty isolated. I love Burlington...reminds me of a little Seattle. but even it is getting over developed. Malls and condos sprouting up everywhere. Not right in town of course, but...

I do love North carolina. My folks are thinking about moving there. Semi- retired. actually tons of people from NJ seem to be retiring there. So many of the parents of kids I went to high school with.
We used to go to Topsail Island and gawk at the marines. Oh and Wilmington. Yeah and I almost wwent to UNC Chapel Hill.

>The air smells different...cleaner, somehow.
Because it IS! :D

> Oh man, I'm so jealous.

So am I. It's a blast. Seems too good to be true but i guess we are inclined to think that after so many years of depression and stagnation.

>owns an old farm house out in the country.
Oo oo! A farmhouse!!! I went to school in Indiana and still miss it. Not the hick-factor but the countryside. Could drive 10 minutes and be lost in a sea of cornfields and stars that lit up the sky. but I'm an East coast gal...I couldn't live out there.

> We have discussed cohabitation,
How long you been seeing each other?

>love decorating. Painting the walls cool colors, getting great curtains...

We've only been in since july 1st but i'm so excited about the painting!! Check this out:
www.behr.com. You can pick out colors and they'll give you colors to match. Thennnn you can chose a room and cyber "paint" it! Aw it is just a blast. And I'm not working now so I spend too much of my time planning the decor. Yes, funky colors will be in the basement. it's a finished basement where the tv and stereo and all of my husband's big boy toys are. I'm thinking orange...blues...I like firey stuff.
But the furniture is kind of between khaki and olive so I'm still ruminating.

>Linen's and Things.
Ours has TWO STORIES!!!

> a great mattress...I'd live in bed.
Yeah actually I did that last month. Seriously. It was a terrible terrible month. I wish I'd had soft smooth expensive high thread count sheets...

Maybe I'll describe some rooms to you and get some decorating advice. I have some good ideas but I always need reassurance.
It's a big country kitchen and everything needs re-doing. I wanted wood floors but i don't think it's practical so we're doing laminate flooring which looks like ceramic tile...we want Tuscan colors in the kitchen...deep yellows, blues, greens...

I've blathered way too long...

My sister lives in Burlington. She loves it.

Oh yeah, all those places are very familiar to me. I had an
ex boyfriend who's parents lived in Wilmington, so we used to
go there all the time to visit them and hang at the beach. It's
about 3 hours away from here (Durham). Chapel Hill is 30 minutes away
from me, so of course I know all about UNC. My ex boyfriend went there
for college and I lived in Chapel Hill for a few years.

Maybe that's the upside of depression...you really appreciate
the good times and savor them like fine wine....I know I do anyway.

> How long you been seeing each other?

Well I'm a little embarrassed to say since we haven't been
going out nearly long enough to seriously consider cohabitation...but
it's weird, we've been so damn domestic right from the start. Our favorite
things to do revolve around domestic days at home, doing chores! Just
the other day, a particularly blissful day, I was mowing his yard (he has
a huge yard, and a riding lawnmower...it takes me about two hours to mow
it!)...but I love it...I'm out there feeling all country girl and Nascar at
the same time and mowing is so meditative...and he's inside refinishing this
huge wardrobe thing. We put in a garden at his place. We're just real domestic.
I've known him (though not well) through mutual friends for a long time. We were
talking/flirting at a party one time and he was talking about how he needed a roomate.
I said "I'll be your roomate, I've kind of been thinking I don't like living alone".
So our first intial flirting conversations had to do with being roomates. Then we
starting dating and dropped the subject. Then it tentatively came up again.
But to answer your question, we've only been going out..um...4 months.

Man, I've never met anyone else who fantasizes about painting
their walls orange. I've been wanting to do that for a long time, but
for one thing, I rent, for another, I'm a little scared Ill hate it.
But I _love_ orange. I like the fiery stuff too. I used to live in this
really cheap low rent place where the landlord never came around and didn't
care what you did. My living room was bright yellow (semi gloss!) it was almost
the color of orange sherbert...the stairwell was salsa red...the bathroom
electric blue...my room was dark slate blue...another room was emerald green.
That place was funky. And I have a red couch. I love my red couch.
My two next purchases I would like: a really good name brand mattress, preferrably
a pillowtop and a chair and a half with an ottoman...

> But the furniture is kind of between khaki

Khaki and olive would go great with orange, I think...
>

It was a terrible terrible month.
I wish I'd had soft smooth expensive high
thread count sheets...

Yeah...that's not the fun way to be in bed...when you're feeling
like shit...been there, baby.
>

Yeah, maybe you could take digital pictures and then tell
me the paint colors you're thinking of on behr.com...
I'd love to help you decide.

Sounds wonderful...

Awwww...there's just not much around it, that's all. It's like a little island up there. And then when I realize that whever we visit it's NOT the winter, it becomes a little less appealing. Altho I like the cold.

>Wilmington, so we used to
Smawl woild!

>Chapel Hill is 30 minutes away
Oh you lucky chiquita, you...

> Maybe that's the upside of depression...you really appreciate the good times and savor them like fine wine....I know I do anyway.

Good point...
It's so hard not to wonder when the other shoe will drop. it's not pessimism- it's experience and reality...
>
>seriously consider cohabitation...
You know, it's not like you're 18 or something. Do you know what i'm saying? i truly believe that after plenty of other life experiences and boyfriends, you know what you want.
The rules are different.

>takes me about two hours to mow
Holy crow!

>out there feeling all country girl and Nascar at
the same time
Ha! Nascar's a bit of a sore subject for me however...in one of the bedrooms, the previous owner put up a Nascar border right in the middle of the walls! And there was just a little strip of yellow duckies too. It was like the kid grew up and decided he wanted race cars but they left part of the duckies there! It was a bitch to scrape off! :D

>through mutual friends for a long time.
See that's a good way to meet someone...you kinda know them for a while and then things evolve...but it's so much more comfortable that way.

<Then it tentatively came up again.
Who brought it up?

>never met anyone else who fantasizes about painting their walls orange.
Oh we're out here! It's just like the Wiccans- you don't know somebody's one unless someone brings it up. I kid.

>for another, I'm a little scared Ill hate it.
It doesn't have to be paint. I just bought what was meant to be a sarong at this place that sells dead-head and made-in-India schtuff. I'm just going to hang it on the wall to add some color.

>stairwell was salsa red...
Yep. Something will definitely have to be red.

>emerald green.
Yum!

>and a chair and a half with an ottoman...
We call it the "fat man chair"...

>like shit...been there, baby.
Wish you hadn't...

> >
> Yeah, maybe you could take digital pictures and then tell me the paint colors you're thinking of on behr.com...

Already have 'em!
