I have only been reading about a week now and I am confused. I understand that Dr. Bob monitors the e-mails and that some people have had trouble with people's input at times. What I don't understand is that there was a mention of making e-mails public...I thought everything was public. The second thing is I have never been in a chat room but I think it would be helpful instead of waiting for answers back. I thought chat rooms are like instant messaging with several people online to respond like a group discussion...am I correct? If so, does anyone know how I can get involved?
Thanks

Speaker, I'm WAAAY behind the times. I know nothing of instant messaging. But here, it's a waiting game. If you have a problem/concern/communication, you post it, then you wait for a reply. Sometimes, people will be preoccupied with other matters, and you'll get no reply at all. Don't let that discourage you from interacting. When I registered just today, Dr. Bob presented to me the option of making my e-mail address public with each post. I declined, as I'm sure most people do.

Welcome! I can see how you might be confused... I monitor posts here, but not e-mails between posters, which are independent of this site and are not public. Chat rooms are real time, but this is a "message board", not a chat room.

I have found some of the information helpful. I am not interested in any type of personal debates with anyone but would like to encourage others as they have encouraged me. Time will tell.

You didn't ask ME, and forgive me for being an interloper. There was apparently a minor "flame war" recently, on this site, which surprises me. Moi?
-I'm a major depressive
-An incurable insomniac
-I'm afficted with undifferentiated schizophrenia (and ya'll just thought I had a vivid imagination)
-I suffer from "social phobia", although I would argue (as Porter so eloquently put it) that I'm more "sensitive to reality" than most others; in my case the reality that my brain chemistry, though it equips me to be compassionate and empathetic, is not especilly "sociable". Not "anti-social", more like non-social. I'm the gentlest man you could ever imagine. Yet for some reason, people in chat rooms regularly pick fights with me. I'm splenetically ruthless in defending what limited dignity I possess as a mentally ill person. That's how I earned the sobriquet, "Destroyo". I'm a very committed Christian, but I find myself alone in a sea of offensive dogma. George W. Bush and I both regard Jesus as our favorite philosopher, but I couldn't be more different from that guy. He's a baptist. I'm a gnostic. I take my direction from Jesus; he quite literally orders Jesus to support the stupid war in Iraq. You see, according to his own
interpretation of his fate, no less than GOD made him president. The stagerring hubris of his arrogance boggles the imagination. In his mind, God is the General; he's a "full bird colonel", and Jesus is just a captain. Disgusting! Hey, looking back and re-reading this post, I can see why some people want to flame me. I'm a bit strident, but like Popeye, "I yam what I yam".

splenetically? sobriquet? Man, you do use some words! I'm going to have to google those two.
This is the end of the thread.
