Hey, I've decided I need to cut down my online time. Since I've not been working my online time has crept upward to embarassing life-gobbling levels. I'm trying a daily time limit. Today my goal was 1 hr.. Man it goes by fast.. I can barely even check my email and my favorite sites.. I'd say more but my time is up. Sweet dreams all.
p.s. I realize the irony of seeking support for this problem here..

i hear ya. I'm hooked online a lot too. Partly cos its just way to cold to go out unless absolutely required where I am (eastern canada). Plus there's always so much to read on PB alone. ANd then there's all those other places and things I like to look up.
Times does fly when surfin.good luck with the surf-limit !

Hi Jimi & PsychoPoppy. Day 2 of restriction. So far, OK. I've re-engaged with the physical world. It's amazing how many times a day I get the urge to pop in and google something.. a book, a song, some idea, a news story, tonight's TV listings, anything and everything.

Tabitha:
I just wanted to say that I am rooting for you, I am a graduate student in a demanding program and find the internet prevents me from studying, etc. It is HORRIBLE. But you're my INSPIRATION. I need to cut down on internet time too. Good luck to you!

I'm hooked too, and in grad school, that IS a problem. I tried the anti-addiction limit here on PB, but freaked when it said it was my last refresh for the day and changed it back. Also, my husband just installed a new computer. I was not able to go online for the whole weekend. I really missed it! I've really got to set limits. How are other people doing it?

Me too. But it helped when severely depressed, it actually helped me get out of bed in the morning out of wondering if anyone had written to me. It was a sign of improvement. And it kept up so now I am pretty okay but the routine is like I am getting paid a huge whacking paycheck to spend so much time on line. I too am trying to limit to one hour, but today it is four so far. arrgghhhhh but it is better than curling up in bed in darkness mid-day, which is what I have felt like doing all day. So I thin this may be too much time on-line, but possibly a step above just feeling miserable in bed. ???????ramsea
