Feel like crap ... my wittle patootie is sick

Posted by Camille Dumont on February 29, 2004, at 22:55:43

I don't think there is anything in this world that can make me feel as bad as knowing one of my ratsies is sick.

My stomach hurts from the worry ... from being anxious at going to the vet tomorrow ... from not knowing if I'll be able to get an appointment ... from not knowing if the vet will be competent!!!

AAARRRGH!!!

And the worse thing is ... I KNOW what is wrong ... and I KNOW what she needs ... bleh! Why can't we just order freaking pet antibiotics over the net!?!?

Made me feel so stupid to phone work to say that I can't come in because my rat is sick and she has to go to the vet ....

Hopefully they won't see my as crazyer than they already do....

I'm so sorry your pet is sick. I know when my dog is sick, I feel so guilty and helpless sometimes. And, I also get stuck giving the care...like hot-packing her butt and applying salve to a fistulated anal sac three times a day for a week. The things we do for pets!

Hope she is better soon!

Well ... I'm going to the vet with her today at 4PM so I'm a bit reassured.

I know when they're sick ... even just a little I let them get away with absolutely anything.

Yesterday night, during freerange playtime, my little Poubelle climbed onto my chest, grabbed the book I was reading and procedded to rip the pages to shreds. And me, biggest s**ker of the world for sick pets ... I could only go "awwww ... what a cutie patootie" and give her kisses on her white furry tummy.

Yep ... the things we do for pet :P

Well, we went to the vet and she's got an inner ear infection so she gave her antibiotics and steroids.

She seems a bit better and puts up more of a fight when I give her her meds but the head tilt is still there and the balance is not back although it seems better.

I have to go back with her to the vet on the 15. She's also majorly pissed at me because she's confined to the top level of the cage with one of her sisters ... I just don't want her to hurt herself on the ramps but I understand her ... being stuck in a 10 sq feet cage must seem tiny when you're used to 30 sq feet. Oh well ... hopefully I'll be able to put her back with everybody sometime next week.

Thanks for asking ...
