I went to the pharmacy this week. Since it was at the beginning of the month, my medicaid spend-down hadn't been met. The girl at the counter tells me that my seroquel, an antipsychotic, would cost me $397.00 for my month's supply. I decided to purchase only 2 weeks worth at this one visit.
I asked the pharmacist if She too thought it peculiar that purchasing antipsychotic medications can cause psychotic episodes. Everyone there sort of chuckled.

i don't know anything about online pharmacies or cross-border drug shopping for americans but you might want to consider it.

Deirdre, I don't know what state you live in, but it is my understanding that you don't have to actually have paid for the Rx - just have to have "accrued" the amount of your spend down. Might be different for different states, but it might be worth it to ask your eligibility worker.

GOOD GOD!!!!! 400$ for SEROQUEL!!!!!
I'm also a Canadian ... if you have your prescription you can legally have it filled by a Canadian pharmacy online (I think you fax them your prescription or something)
I took seroquel for a while and the prescription for 50mg was like ... less than 60$ I think.
Sheesh! Now I understand why those online pharmacies make so much business.

More on Canadian Pharmacies, from the wonderful state of Wisconsin:
http://www.drugsavings.wi.gov/BTW - I don't live in Wisconsin. But I think that their gov't. is doing a wonderful service to the people of that state (and all others!) by providing this info on their website. Mind you, the federal gov't isn't all too keen on it! Oh well...
Maybe this will help somewhat? I haven't looked to closely at the site, so I don't know if it will provide savings or not.
