I have been on effexor xr for just over a year now and I have had diabetes type 1 for 21 years. In the year I have been on effexor it has been increased from 75mg to 375mg every time I got 'down' from an admission to hospital for diabetes complications...I have been told I have had brittle diabetes all my life but in this past year it has been a lot worse! To cut to the chase I was wondering if there were any others out there who have diabetes who are on effexor xr and have had probelems with really bad hypoglaecaemic reactions? It seems like the higher the dose got the less insulin I needed and I have ended up in a coma late last year and having constant hypos where I end up passing out in the past few months. Just recently a doctor said that they had a report that effexor had caused hypos but there wasnt a lot known about it! I have since been taken off of effexor and am on nothing at all, which is extremely hard but was wondering if anyone else knew anything about this??

Rebs,
You'll get more relevant responses at the medication board.
I've taken the liberty of redirecting your post to the medication board (Psycho Babble rather than Psycho Social Babble). Here is the link to your post on the med board:
