my friend went to a day program and enjoyed it. from my understanding, she was able to receive group therapy, do activities such as cooking, cleaning up, etc. she also went bowling, shopping, things of that nature. i'm not excatly sure what she did, but i can find out. i know that she hated therapy with a passion but was very excited about going to a day program and enjoyed it. she went from 9-5. and i know she received individual and group therapy daily. and the people were supportive and not extrememly challenging. i can find out more about what she did, if you like. but i do know that she enjoyed her encounters with her particular day program.

good luck in your decision dear. i know it's overwhelming when you are pressured into making decisions. but, i'm certain that whatever you decide to do will turn out for the best. and try to make this particular situation work to your advantage. good luck again, and if you want more information on my friend's experience, i can give her a call and find out what she did dear.

kell,
i dont know where you live,
but when i went to the"day program"it was a chance to get out every day..seperation from what was not working,,a chance to step back ..
most things were not helpful..things i already were aware of..but it was a truely great experience because i felt that i was not alone..
peolpe would stare,,but for the most part..my "ticing" was understood..and i was their friend for a month..
if you have social difficulties i would jump at the chance..if you need education, go!,if you need to relate to others that will not judge..step up..
my small point..do everything you can to overcome..it does make it easier

KR,

Depends on the program. Group discussions, I guess, and planning for what you'll do after day program, working on coping skills, job skills, etc. I think.

let us know what you decide!

Kelly--can you ask to visit the day program to see what it's like first before deciding?

Kelly...how do you feel about a potential job? Is it work that you think/.know you will enjoy, or just make your symptoms worse? I used to be on the other end...as a counsellor in a day program, so I found they only work best for certain people. (Others have pointed out what you do there..so I'll skip that.) For many, an actual job with a decent income has shown to be best if you have a *fairly* good handle on your stress. Can you tell more about your situation?

Thanks...
Jay
