this year has been a "mother of puppies" My dad died April 29 this year. He used to visit me in CA this time of year so right now is a tough time. During his visits he would always be glued to the Weather Channel to watch for hurricanes that might affect Florida which is where he lived, and now through November is hurricane season. He would be nervous because my step-mom was home by herself while he was gone. Well the house is (or now was) in Punta Gorda where the eye hit hardest. Poor Martha; she lost her husband 3 months ago and now their home. Fortunately her sister was with her and her brother and sister-in-law live only a few miles away. His house was damaged too but not completely destroyed. They are very close as a family and even more so now. I cannot imagine what these losses would do to me....I have some faith in God but not as strong as I think it would have to be not to go absolutely insane. All prayers and healing thoughts would be welcomed. And I send my thoughts to any others who have also been affected.
Hugs,
Tooter

How utterly devastating. To lose your spouse, and then the house that you shared together. She must feel as though she's lost some of her precious memories of him.
Sending good wishes to her, and everyone suffering after the hurricane.

Oh my, that is just devastating. The poor woman. I'm so glad she has family nearby. My sister said it was helpful to have another couple stay with them during the storm so they could support each other. Your stepmother is going to need lots of support. I'll keep her in my prayers and thank God again that my own family is safe.

Wow, that just seems so terribly unfair. I hope your stepmom is holding up alright. I'll keep her, you, and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
