You can type your message in the same thread and at the top of the message page after the big letters "Enter your post" their is a box titled "board". Just click on the arrow and choose "social" This way you can answer the post in social and the origonal poster will get an email notifying them that there is a new post to the thread that origonated in pscho-babble.
I felt "dense" when I first figured this out. I was going to the administration board asking if it was appropriate to do this and the answeer was a resounding yes it would help the people who supervise the board from having to redirest anyway.
