epidemic of 'other person fault' syndrome

Posted by boomarang on October 14, 2004, at 14:09:15

have you noticed how we don't like to take responsibility for our own problems (not on babble). It's always someone elses fault. I'm trying to work on that...i.e., "I needed to turn off the oven earlier" or whatever instead of "that darn oven, it always burns stuff".

Seems like i notice it more when i'm not unhappy because when i am unhappy i am much more likely to join in a tirade against something/someone else just to vent. I certainly can't tirade myself!

am i weird on this? it's ok if you say i am!

I think a lot of it is human nature - we try to deflect what we might feel guilty about, no? And the Ultimate is blaming someone who not only isn't present, but can't speak on behalf of their defense - like an um.... oven, like.
