I just got insurance and when i asked some questions about mental health benefits, they said they cover certain mental health things. Like, ADD, ADHD and eating disorders. Plus, they will pay for family or individual counciling. But If my dx is depresstion and panice disorder are they not going to cover that???????? Ive never heard of such crap.
Thanks
Sandy

Sandy,
I can't say that I've ever heard about this. I'm sorry to hear about this. What I have heard from some people I know (in the U.S.), though, is that if you are psychiatrically diagnosed prior to being on the new insurance, that it's considered a "pre-existing condition" and some insurance companies won't cover you for psych stuff. That sometimes goes for non-psychiatric diagnoses, as well. Ugh!
