Where in Poland? I've adopted it as my second homeland.

Sure could use a bowl of zurek and a bit of zubrowka right now.

I am in Warszawa. How are you connected to my homeland?
Zubrowka is perfect with apple juice. I don't like zurek :) Have you tried "pierogi ruskie" or "barszcz ukrainski"?

The company I work for sells software to a company in Krakow. My first trip there (and my first overseas trip as well) was in February '93 for about six weeks. I've been back many times, even once on vacation, and I took my youngest there once when I went on business. My clients are no longer just clients - they are good friends as well.

It's so amazing to me to watch main market sparkle and be restored over the years.

And I've never met such wonderful, warm, kind people as I've met there. Imagine my shock when I was struggling with my suitcase on the stairs of the Warszawa Centralna and a group of teenagers ran up to me to help! That would never have happened here.

I tried zubrowka with apple juice once and didn't like it. Cold right out of the bottle for me. I havn't had a drink in almost two years, but if I were to get hold of a bottle of zubrowka all bets are off. Luckily it isn't available over here.

'Pieroge ruskie' - wonderful. I also like bigos, schaslik - actually I haven't found anything I don't like. Except cabbage salads. Haven't tried 'barszcz ukrainski.'

I just today got an email from a friends over there wondering if I can come with the next software. I sure hope so.

I'm getting homesick
