I can't stop crying. Why does seeing the celebrities effect me so much? I guess cause I know they're doing this for real reasons and not acting.

I think that you being from an area near the experience has also something to do with it. The evacuees are coming in from all over, so you see their troubles, drama, and pain. The celebrities and musicians have a strong effect on anyone when they pour their heart into something they truly feel strongly about.

I can't watch it. It is all just too intense. I really have been avoiding the news lately b/c I find this whole situation too upsetting. I do sometimes read stories on-line. That way I can have more control over how much I see/read. I'm not even in that part of the country, but it is too much for me to take.
I suppose that my depression makes it harder to cope. Funny thing is that I can deal with individuals in tragic situations (I'm a therapist, for Pete's sake!) This is somehow different.
I feel so badly for the people in that area. I simply cannot imagine.
Anyone else feel this way?
Best,
EE

> EEE, I've been working at a shelter for about a week now. I see and hear all the stories and tragedies that have occurred for so many. I literally watched the news all day when it first started that I watched the same viewings twice over. It has now been 3 days since I watched the news. It is kind of like 9-11, after so much, you just can't take it.

Yes, and I just can't watch a lot of the news. I just can't, and when music comes into the picture - forget it, I'm a goner.

Thanks yall. I think I tuned out early that night. I got really drunk and then spent yesterday with a horrible hangover. Its kind of inspired me not to drink. We'll see how that works out.

Thanks for the pat on the back. While washing down tables (and toilets) I just kept thinking, I'm doing this for God, I'm doing this for God.
I never enjoyed washing bathrooms more!!!!
