Getting out into the World

Posted by rjlockhart98 on September 20, 2005, at 19:58:05

I am at point of my life which is a shock where i actually now am an adult (im 18). With Jobs and responsiblites. It is a new perception.

My life is beggining, in the real world. What will i make of myself? an investor, banker, lawyer. I have considered all of those.

Life can be really intimidating to me. What is success and how to i get there? What will become of? Its like reality check again. Anyways, having goals and doing them i find gets you places.

Well im getting ready. Lets hold on tight, before i have a panic attack.

Matt, you have matured so much that you will be fine. And you don't have to decide what you'll be now give it some time. See what you really like to do. Fondly, Phillipa

OMGosh Matt! I feel exactly the same way as you and I'm about 5 years older than you.

Sometimes I can't believe that I'm an adult. I wish people didn't see me as an adult 'cause I'm not ready to be an adult.

I don't have any experience with being an adult either. I still live with my parents and sometimes my Mom still cleans my room and stuff. I've also never had any friends. I don't have any adult social experiences either. That is way some things are so difficult for me to understand.

I think growing up can be very exciting. There is lots of anxiety, but try to think of it in terms of excitement instead.

There are so many things for us to experience. Things people take for granted are very new experiences for us. One of my professors told me that now is the time for us to explore the world...when we don't have any commitments yet. I think we should do that...explore the world!

I'm not going to think of settling down yet. I think nowadays lots of people go through several career changes in their lifetime...so maybe you can be an investor, banker and lawyer! People are going to be able to live a long time when you get old!

Enjoy being young! It's gone all too quickly. You don't have to decide anytime soon. Just try one day at a time.

BTW, I was 35 before I decided what I wanted to do. All the rest was figuring out what FOR SURE what I didn't want to do! ;~}
