sweet tea? I know some states i have been to, when ordering, if i ask for a sweet tea they look at me odd and say we have tea. I say, "Is it sweet tea?" and they look at me like im nuts?!
It is so common here, i just wondered about other places.

>I had never heard of sweet tea until I moved to the east coast. I was born and raised on the west coast. When I would have tea I would basically have a cup of sugar with a few drops of tea added. Little did I know that it was called sweet tea. People always thought I was nuts with how much sugar I would put in my tea. Now I know I'm not nuts! :-D

I have had it a lot in the south but in the Midwest is the same thing except without the sugar. Sweet tea has about as much sugar as koolaide. I love it though. Maybe it would be good with Spelenda instead.

Where I am from, you have to request that the tea is unsweetened if you do not want it to be sweet. I wont drink tea if it is not sweet.

Tea..
(and for the record, up here in the Pacific Northwest, they have no clue what "sweet tea" means. They drink it HOT here and add sugar later... scandelous! Pure communism! ROFL
Anyway, here's how you do it (at least in Alabama where I was raised on it- my mom literally put it in my bottle... yeah, now that explains a few things, doesn't it?) ROFLI boil 5 lipton iced tea bags in a pan for about 15 minutes
Add 2 cups (YES TWO CUPS) of sugar to a pitcher
if you like lemon add a few drops of that too
Add the hot, boiling tea to the pitcher (into the sugar so it absorbs)
Then add the rest cold water
Mix togetherLet is sit overnight in the fridge.
WAaa LLAAA Sweet iced tea.. Just like spriggy's southern momma makes it.

Until you get as far south as North Carolina it's not common. In VA Beach not common and never in Connecticut where I was born and raised. Fondly, Phillipa
