ITS OUT TODAY

Posted by Gee on November 18, 2005, at 16:57:48

Anyone going to see the new Harry Potter movie? I can't wait! Though I was disapointed with the last movie. It really strayed from the book. I loved the second movie!

I'm more dedicated to the books. I'll see the movie after things die down a bit. I've always felt the movies were watered down for the kids, since they are the biggest market. I read that they are trying to aim the movies at the original fan's age and get darker as they get older. Like the first one was aimed at ages 9-12, the second 12-14, the third 14-15, and this fourth one for teens. I though that was kind of cool. People who have 9 year olds right now may not think that though.

I'm much more excited about the last book!!! Any idea when its coming out?

My brother read something about them getting so dark they may be rated R in the future. We don't think it will happen though. Harry Potter is still a children's book too even though the characters get older. I guess only time will tell...owwweeeoooo...

The books have started to get pretty dark. I can't really comment on the last book because I read it so fast that I don't remember, but parts of it I was kinda horrified. So much death and gloom.

I caved.

I had my nephew this weekend and it was just too good of an excuse to go. I really liked it. Of course, I was happy that the movie was as dark as the book. I think they finally did it justice in that respect. My nephew is only 7, but his parents exposed him to scary movies early on, so now he's pretty indifferent about it. Not that I approve, I never even let him watch Buffy when he was with me. But I didn't really expect it would be quite so scary. He said he was only scared of the mermaids though, and I had warned him about them beforehand because I saw a picture of them in the paper. But the ending was pretty scary (and sad) to me, at least, while knowing he was watching it.

I couldn't believe how well he understood the plot. And he knew so much beforehand just from the advertisements. He kept telling me everything that was going to happen next. I was like, how on earth do you know that? He was like, I dunno.
