Just figured I'd plug the radio station that I compulsively volunteer at. It is the best radio station in the US (I say that seriously). Staying tuned to it often helps me get through the day.

Thank goodness for public radio. I rely on my (real) news from there. Missed it horribly when I lived abroad, BBC is great but!!! the personalities shine on public radio in North America. Familiar, old friends. Good to hear their voices every morning.
Long live radio.

Their studio is in Jersey City, NJ. They transmit on 91.1 out of East Orange, NJ (this station in 1994 and before was affiliated with the now-defunct Upsala College in East Orange). They also transmit on WXHD Mount Hope, NY for coverage in the NY hudson valley. 91.1 WFMU covers NYC and northern/central NJ.
Sadly, the number of listeners to the WFMU signal is going DOWN as of late! I can only attribute that to a lack of appreciation for anything resembling real culture, as most NYC radio stations are payola crap these days.
Good thing their internet popularity is growing. Listen to the station and please donate if you have the money.
