Every time it happens, it annoys me to no end. Some freaky little virus, a form of "life" which does not even bother to contain DNA, hijacks my body, and turns it into a virus factory. Just so it can, in turn, perchance go on to do the same thing to the next unsuspecting person.
One influenza virus particle weighs, on average, 1.74 X 10^8 Daltons, or 2.89 X 10^-16 grams. That's 28.9 femptograms. Less than the smallest speck. Far tinier than a mote. I outweigh the little bastard by a factor of 3.32 X 10^20, but I can't just crush him to smithereens. No.
Instead, he sneaks on board, and over days, hoards of his kin, churned out by the hijacked machinery of my own body, evoke fatigue and ache and pain and breathing problems.
I've done my best to contain the virus. I don't think I've infected another person. That is all that I can do, in protest.
I hate you, Mr. Flu. But chances are, I've spent many times more energy thinking about you than you've thought about me. Virus 1, Lar 0.

That's where I get hung up trying to imagine a loving Creator. I think of the Creator loving us humans, then I think of it also loving the AIDS virus, then I get sort of mad.

I've wanted to ask where you are, but I don't know you that well. I want to tell you what to do for yourself, but I think you know much more than me about that. So proper amino's, proper vitamins, rest, care, soak up the support and get well.

Lar, that's amazing that you have so accurately described the virus. It exists for some reason.
Any ideals? I guess every life form is pushing ahead in every way it can.~Jake

have a lover instead of a virus!
I hear close relationships that make one happy keep the immune system up...
Is it too late for you to make a New Year's resolution to get out there and meet someone?!?

I think it's easier to catch a virus than it is to catch a lover, but I think I get your point. ;-)

A-hah! I don't think that would be too romantic of me, if I made that argument to a potential lover, though, would it?
> Is it too late for you to make a New Year's resolution to get out there and meet someone?!?Well, now that I'm not contagious, perhaps I shall do just that.
Look out, ladies. ;-)

I have to agree with you there.
You could, I suppose, attribute viruses and such to the devil.
I prefer the simplest explanation, rather than one that gets more complicated the more you look at it.
It's just the way it is.
