I feel I am in deep trouble with my 18 year old son.He has receintly been diagnosed with bipolar and I have it as well. Needless to say, our moods crash like two trains ..He hates me, disrespects me and makes me feel suicidal daily. He denies to himself he has a problem and says bipolar is for lazy people and I am a crazy lady. He sleeps all day, stays up all night. Also, juvilnile diabetes is in his life since the age of 7. He refuses now to check his blood, and is VERY skinny from high blood sugars. He goes to a Endocronolgist and his A1c is 11.
He was put on Wellbutrin and will not take it.
I do take my meds daily, but he is beating me down daily. He is 18 and I cannot do anything from what they tell me. He will not even let me go to the theropist with him to get family councel. One of us is going to lose this battle and I think it will be me. I do not want him with me and he has no where to go..What can I do????

sometimes it takes 'tough love' when the situation is endangering you as well as him. you are the adult in charge of your home and it seems it is time to set some ground rules w/ him and if he chooses not to follow them, he is out. the hard part is following through when it's a loved one but sometimes it's the only way. i wld. get into therapy if you're not and that will hopefully help you w/ coping skills and continuing to care for yourself. by allowing this it is a form of enabling his behavior. i know it sounds easier than it really is but he is slowly killing himself and you too. hang in there...(((((Gwendy)))))

First inform his doctor he is noncompliant with his meds and not following the diabetes insulin or pills or diet is endangering his life. Take from what the doc says. Good luck. Love Phillipa
