You are doing something INCREDIBLY hard that not everyone could do. You have every right to feel weird, scared, nervous, freaked out, whatever! Even making the attempt to do this is very VERY brave, and I admire you greatly for it. You are a hero to many nameless people out there, for doing what they can't.
