((((scared little cat))))
Put up those flyers, call animal control, in case they pick her up, and contact as many neighbors as you can. That lost kitty at the hotel stayed in the parking lot for days, and fellow guests were the best sources of information on her. I've had a few escapee dogs in my life, and while dogs are admittedly different, canvassing the neighborhood has worked enormously well.
And sleepygirl, is she microchipped? If not, when you find her, fuss over her and fuss at her, then go to your vet and have her microchipped.

Don't give up I've had some of mine disappear for a few days and show back up. She isn't an upspayed female is she/he? If so that might explain it. Hopefully your baby is okay and will return to you.Love Phillipa

That's awful, SleepyGirl! I can't believe your cat didn't come back since the other night.
Do you have posters or signs, like Dinah suggested?
Do you know parts of the neighborhood where she likes to hang out?
There must be a way to find her. I don't know them, I"ve never had a cat, but I'm so worried.
You said she's found her way back before. Maybe she will again.

I hope she comes home soon. I have three cats and I know how upset I get when one gets out and decides to roam around.

There's no reason to lose hope. It's not been all that long, and cat's are excellent hiders. Have you put out food for her in a place you can watch easily?

Fantastic! Give her a lecture about not leaving the yard again and extra kitty treats. I know I send mixed messages to my cats when I do that, but they are so cute...

well you know I was distraught about the whole thing.........
she got out late tuesday night, couldn't find her-
our landlord called the cops when she saw a man (my boyfriend) out in the yard walking around with a flashlight
after work on wed I walked around the yard in the dark, pouring rain with a flashlight
thursday I was so upset :-(
searching, walking the neighborhood, calling her name over and over, shaking her toy, posting pictures, making flyers, sitting on the stoop for many hours watching, putting out food, talking to people, calling animal control, looking up 'how to find your cat' on the internet, setting a trap, climbing neighbor's fences, searching other people's backyards, I put out her bed, my worn clothes, sprinkled her used litter around the yard, ...waiting, waiting, waiting
and it was getting cold :-(
and I was crying a lot, not just little crying, but sobbing, sleeping all of 2 hours thurs night
friday came and I was exhausted, spent, despair setting in, up at 5 AM to try to catch the secret life cats might have before dawn, more searching, I put my other cat out the pet carrier on the stoop for a few minutes to meow so my lost cat might hear her familiar voice.... waiting, hoping, what's that black cat running by across the street? stop, move slowly, carefully....it's run away (sigh), looking, searching
finally, I resigned myself to certain other responsibilities for a while.... and what do I hear?
a scratching, meowing at my door, immediately then opened by my boyfriend, followed by a furry black feline running into the room
what? could it? can it? is it?
please, is it true? could it be? she's come home?
YES, she has!!
we had left the door to the front of the house partly open most every moment since her escape, and sure enough she used the opportunity to run up to our apartment upstairs
she looked tired, but unharmed, very hungry, very thirsty, and happy to see us, and we lavished her with affection, and spread the good news
relief...sweet relief, and finally SLEEP :-)
thanks everyone

That's an amazing saga of love. Your kitty is a lucky kitty-- I guess she appreciates it, though.
That she found her way back shows that she can fend for herself better than you feared, too.
Not that you want to test the proposition.
well, they say, all's well that ends well! (not sure if they're right-- but at least in this case)

I'm so glad your cat is back. I have a fluffy white persian and he just loves to "play computer" with me.
I don't know what I would do if I lost him.
A friend of mine had a fat black cat that disappeared for two months and just one day reappeared on his balcony - a little thinner, but nonetheless whole.
We joked that "freddie went to fat camp"
Cats are such amazing creatures.
