This is a favorite subject of mine. Whether or not its legitimate, a hoax, or a natural phenomenon, I don't know, but its weird as sh*t! I try to keep an open mind about things of which I don't have enough info to make an intelligent decision. I've never had any actual experience with them, but I've found the stories about them to be fascinating. Does anyone have an opinion pro or con? I'd be interested to hear about it.

Crop circles I know are pranks. I saw a documentary on how they're made. And many people have mad very large crop circles of logos (Firefox, Google, etc). So unless aliens are use Firefox to browse the web...lol
I think most UFOs are either hoaxes, weather balloons, or perhaps even unknown government aircraft (I know the US government has saucer shaped plane in the 50s.)
My opinion: I really really don't think aliens (if they exist) ever have or ever will visit Earth. 2 reasons.
1. The nearest solar systems/planets are so far away, it would take literally tens of thousands of years for even the fastest imaginable ships (1/10th the speed of light) to reach Earth.
2. Second and most importantly. THe universe has existed for 15 billion years. Assuming it takes a few million years (we'll say 2 on average) for one species to evolve and develop into an advance civilization, there are 7,500 blocks of time (15 billion = 15,000 million / 2 million = 7,500) that a civilization can rise up. So the odds of an advanced civilization existing at the same time we exist is very unlikely.
Combine these two together, aliens being within a reasonable distance, and aliens existing at the same time as us, is very very unlikely.
Just my take on it.

In spite of a lack of evidence and poor odds, I would love to think that UFOs are real. Crop circles are really cool art installations; but nothing more than that, IMO.
I have never seen a UFO. I once had a vivid dream that I'd seen one, but it went on a nasty end-of-the-world tangent and I woke up screaming :-( My dream had segued with a thunderstorm outside and a transformer outside the house got zapped JUST as Earth was getting blown to bits. Thank goodness, eh?
I think that Hollywood does UFOs best. I will watch just about anything on the SciFi Channel that promises alien life forms. I think it shows the optimist in me that I *want* these things to be true.
Long live ET, and Star Trek.

When I was a kid I thought I saw a UFO and dragged my mom to the front door to look at it. And she was like yeah, that's a blimp. I was wicked scared though because I used to watch those scary UFO/alien siting tv shows w/ my brother. Plus it was at night and it was glowing!!

I try to keep an open mind about most things, and I haven't seen enough evidence one way or another as far as I'm concerned. I do like the idea of aliens. I find it hard to believe in a place as vast as the universe that we're the only intelligent life form out there. As far as crop circles, I've read some really hard to explain things about them. But as long as all I'm doing is 'reading' about it, I can't really say anything for sure.
I read this book called "Communion: A True Story" about this guy who supposedly was abducted, and although I don't know how plausible it all is, it sure scared the crap out of me!

from my sister's new boyfriend (ewwwww, all they do is make out on the couch, even after i tell them 'go upstairs, that's disgusting!') about one time when he was with a friend and they threw a wooden shoe (ok, i stopped him when he got to the lights chasign them and asked 'what drugs were involved?' he said 'liquor, but no hallucinogens' i think he was telign the truth, about the drugs anyway.) in some water, some lights followed them, i guess he didn't think too hard about it, but got a call from his friend that night saying 'i'm never talkign to you again, the aliens came for me.'
i guess they haven't spoken since.
my sister also went on a first date with a guy, when they were both about 16. he came over, was eatign dinner with my folks, seemed nice enough, then suddenly went into a story about the 'lights' that came to his window at night. apparently he claims to have been abducted as well. my father burst out laughing. my sister's date did not. she broke up with him when he 'tried to stick his tongue down her throat' (she's very naive, you know. then again, maybe he really was abducted and was trying to breed wtih her and have alien babies?)
i guess it's somethign many people claim in these parts. (people do a whole lot of meth in these parts as well though. connnection perhaps?) i have a friend who is honestly scared half to death of aliens. i don't get it. if they're anything like the ones from 'mars attacks' i'd rather like to meet the buggers.
about crop circles... i'm not sure. i've seen many documentaries where college students ahve done them in a matter of hours with skateboard like materials. but about aliens, i think it's not only possible but highly likely. i'd think it's be rather closed-minded to think we're the only living, intelligent creatures. i'd like to find an alien 'me' to borrow shoes from. that'd be pretty cool.

What was that about throwing a wooden shoe in the water? I didn't get it, but somehow it went with the rest of the story. Heh, heh.
I must have seen different shows about crop circles than everyone else, because what I've seen seemed absolutely impossible to fake. Change in the molecular structure of the crops, the precision and angle of the of the way the stalks were bent - but not broken, the complexity of the designs (I saw some that looked like some sort of message written out). Of course, like I said, I'm either watching this all on tv or reading it, and I'm obviously no expert on any part of it - so what do I know. But I strongly believe in keeping an open mind, and I always will.
The truth is out there...

about the wooden shoe: there wasn't much more to it. i guess there was a wooden shoe there, in some abandoned house. story goes 'if you throw the shoe bad things happen' (yeah, you hear stuff like that all the time too. probably another meth connection.) he threw the shoe, didn't hear an echo into the water, they ran, lights chased (i stopped to ask about drugs involved), they hid out in the woods for a while (i forgot that part until now, but i now seem to recall a big deal about them hiding in the woods for a while from the 'lights' and being scared sh!tless), decided to take off, and i think you know the rest of the story.
often times i point to the sky and say, 'hey look, it's a foo!' it very may well be. then again, it's more likely to be a plane. i still want to find that alien me though.
you reminded me of another story (you have to quit doing that, because i could go on and on. even worse than racer (don't read this racer, don't read this.. see, i highly belive in the power of suggestion,t hough for some odd reason i now feel she will be compelled to read this particular post. in fact, i know she will be. maybe i did it on purpose? you'll never know, will you tc?):
my sister used to be WAY into that show xfiles, with that silly man, david duchovney (dear god, how could anyone spell that name?). anyway, she came home one day and had made one of those famous photos i'm known for, of her face, on a naked woman's body, with him standing over her. it was photcopied, put in a cheap frame, and she slept with it on her night stand every night. i was tempted to take a picture of this oddity and send it to him, jsut so he knew what some of his 'fans' (by fans i mean 'cuckoo, cuckoo') were doing with innocent photos of him. she also dated a man (i use that erm loosely) who wore a cape and resembled mister peanut (i swear on my life!). my mothe rmet him for the first time adn the first words out of her mouth were, 'what's wrong with you?' (my mother, not know for her tact) refers to a close friend of mine, as her 'ugly daughter'.
maybe you should meet my mother before we marry? (wowsa, not another story?): mister kk never had the chance to meet my mother (i also herfer to her lovingly as the devil and sometimes as satan, depending on my mood and the last time we spoke) before we married. in fact, this last weekedn was the first time his family actually met her. to make certain he never met her, the gods not only made my car break down on the way to meet her, they completely tore the clutch out. see, it was never meant to be for a mister kk to meet my mother. a marriage in my family never works if he meets the devil before sealing the deal.
that's about enough for tonight. take care of yourself and improve your credit rating dear. last time i tried to apply for a credit card, when i simply wrote my name, the paper grew legs and ran to the paper shredder.
This is the end of the thread.
