I loathe this holiday. It brings out all of the irresponsible idiots who don't think about what they are doing. I wonder how many of them actually say something in honor of what the 4th is about or if it is just a way to create noise and let out some of the withheld aggression? I hate the noise, the smell, the fear of fire, the leftover trash in the street, in my yard.......Sorry...I've had some BAD experiences with this holiday......and New Years eve too ...but that's for another time...

I've always been scared of fireworks.
But I have so very many fond memories of the day. My collie used to love the Fourth and would run around barking and trying in vain to jump at the fireworks, tail wagging half raised in that excited collie way.
It hasn't really been the same since she died twentyfive years ago, at least.
