Anyone else not happy with comback of DUH?

Posted by slugdoo on August 10, 2007, at 6:09:04

I remember it has a kid growing up and I remember using it, but now that I am older, I just don't care too much for hearing it. It seems to be in a lot of commercials lately. Anyone else? lol

Hi Slugdoo,

I, uh, er, well, never stopped using it. Now that I know it's popular I'll have to switch to something else. Not Homer Simpson Doh, though.

I, Uh never did either. Sometimes it's the only thing my mouth can come up with. Especially when someone who has mistaken my depression, for an intelligence deficit, and is informing me of something a two year old would be aware of.

I don't mind the *occasional* use of the word, done in a funny way "everybody" can get a chuckle out of. But, generally, I don't even like sarcasm. I find when I am in a 'bad' mood (aka 'dysphoric' mania) , that is when I can be a bit sarcastic. I just don't like it, and don't think it is very polite. IMHO...anyways...

Funny as being a real Yankee from CT. Most people are very sarcastic kind of the lingo of the vacinity. It's acceptable. Go to the city and it gets worse. Love Phillipa

I kinda think the use of it in those car commercials is pretty funny.

This one is my favorite.

But when someone says "duh" to me in conversation, I think it's rude. My daughter says it sometimes. She's far to sassy for an almost 8 year old.

I don't mind it when used self referentially. I might say "Duh" to myself if I miss something obvious. And I've been known to think it on occasion or use it to the TV during newscasts or political speeches.

But one of my son's friends said it to a peer the other day, and I didn't like it *at all*.

When my son got home, I had him describe what Duh meant then had him stick it into a sentence. He said it wasn't really necessary as he didn't use the word, but still...

Now if I can just do the same with eye rolling, which I know he does do (at least to me).
