A long time ago some of the more rowdy Roos would take a swing at you if they felt threatened....anymore most just carry pepper spray in that little pouch of theirs...much more civilized, dont ya think.

Once when I was out riding (a horse, this sounds improbable, but there it is) I came across two goannas in combat.
They are big lizards, about 5ft long.
The came down from trees and in the middle of a clearing between them, they stood up on their tails and back legs and wrestled.
At least I think that is what they were doing.
After a bout they retired to their trees and waited a bit until the next time.
It might be something that happens in the spring.
It was quite something, and I felt privileged to see it.Kangaroos are kinda peaceful animals, but they have extremely powerful hind legs and you might worry that they could disembowel you.
They, like many animals, might be touchy in the mating season.Here is a video of kangaroos boxing each other.....

pepper spray is civilized? i think i prefer boxing. one time, when i was young (about 45 years ago) i got some pepper spray. i'd heard that you are to never, ever spray it in the wind, but i tried to use logic and spray it the other way. yeah, i maced myself right in the face.
thanks dan, the aborigine (did i spell that right?)! remind me to never use pepper spray again, and instead to pull out those gloves!
