My boss encouraged us to sign up for this triathlon as a relay. We got 2 teams together and I'm the swimmer for one of the teams. I never really swam (is that a word?) before i started training for this, but I tried the distance (half mile) in a pool and it was ok.
Then last week I got a terrible cold and I'm still coughing up phlegm and feeling sort of yucky and I started my period yesterday (very lightheaded)...the thing is tomorrow in a river. I can hardly breathe w/o getting water in my mouth as it is...i think it will be harder in a river.
And our bicyclist dropped out b/c family problems, so we had to get somebody last minute. I think we're going to lose. I hope it's at least a little bit fun.

Huge committment lucky you're in shape enough to do it. Must be warm there as the rivers sure would be cold here. Good luck and may you win. Phillipa

Hi Norosegarden,
I'm a strong swimmer, but a slow one. No way I'd do any kind of race, I admire your effort. And for going in cold water, I whine when the pool for water aerobics is less than 80 degrees. Hope the wetsuit keeps you dry and warm and swim like a shark or gator or whaterver creature you imagine is on your tail.

The swim went ok. The water was 60F, but the wetsiuit I rented made it not seem so cold :)
And I almost beat my boss who does triathlons and practices a lot and is a he.
Our biker did turn out to be slow and fell once, but i guess i shouldn't be too mad. I don't like my result being dependent on what other people do. I never have liked group work.
