Pearl Harbor, etc.

Posted by llurpsienoodle on November 23, 2008, at 13:05:48

So, my h is away on tour to Japan and Hawaii to commemorate the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombing.

I've known about this for about 5 mos, and I've been preparing for the worst. Last time he was gone for a while I kind of "decompensated"...

This is the longest that we've been separated in a while. 18 days, and while he's in Japan I won't really have much contact with him :(

Honestly, I don't know how military families deal with deployments.

Well, I scheduled extra therapy, 2x a week *which the insurance is paying for!!* and I'll be going to visit the family (is that a good thing?) for Tgiving.

In the meanwhile, there's kittens, and autumn walks and housecleaning. Yesterday I dusted the dining room and cleaned the kitchen (incl. floors).

I'm keeping the TV on for company, and I went to the library to get some books.

I even bought eggNOG, which I will be henceforth using as coffeecreamer.

I hope my proactivity will make this separation tolerable.

I did the same recently, and got out

"The Temptation to Exist" by EM Cioran
(not much of a temptation for me)
about the calamity of consciousness

and

"Cosmos, Chaos and the World to Come: The Ancient Roots of Apocalyptic Faith" by Norman Cohn
