Hey, i'm not American but im interested in what Obama has planned to do about the American health care system. The privatized system in your country that has produced a social gap or divide between those that afford treatment and those that cant etc. Also the high cost of rx drugs that has many Americans looking to Canada and elsewhere to get cheaper meds. I remember under Bush instead of considering lowering the cost of rx meds for poor Americans (like seniors) his govt attempted to ban/stop those Americans from acquiring cheap meds out the country (ie online Canadian pharmacies).
Anything to share?

> a curious CanadianYou are so right about the huge chasm between the "haves" and the "have nots" when it comes to health insurance. I used to work in an emergency room and people who didn't have insurance used us as a primary physician. Anything..sniffles...etc.
I haven't followed the healthcare plans closely due to a family problem, but anything would be better than what we have now.
Bush did make the statement once about "folks who don't have insurance can just go to ER"...well, that helped people. ERs are already overcrowded and some have substandard professionals working.
I have medicare and the previous administration managed to strip some of the better features out of it. I am lucky enough to have a free prescription plan..don't ask..somehow I qualified for it. I'm in Texas and we have a pretty good system here for over 65.

Hi,
I haven't been following to closely, but if I remember correctly (check me on this one), he is asking Congress to allocate $1.1 billion for medical research. The research is to study our current clinical practices? to determine whether or not they are most feasible. Don't know much else.
This is the end of the thread.
