The Cat Stroll

Posted by fayeroe on February 27, 2009, at 14:55:51

Anyone familiar with it?

You hear a knock at the door. Upon opening it you see your cat standing there. Graciously stepping back, you await his/her entrance.

First the cat's tail raises in a warm greeting for you. You're feeling positive that this visit is going to go well.
Then the cat glances over his/her shoulder at something that only he/she can see.
You wait politely.
Then the chin is thrust ever so slightly forward and you are led to believe that a grand entry is anticipated.
The chin tucks back under and the cat sits down on it's butt and looks around it's surroundings.
You wait patiently.
The cat stands up and stretches (always good to work those kinks out) and moves ever so slightly towards the door opening.
You start breathing faster. The cat is coming in!
He/she feints..backs up and comes forward.
You're patiently becoming pissed.
The chin leads and rubs up against the trim outside the door.
The cat enters the house and says "meow" in that little breathless way that could be an apology or it could just be "thanks, fool, for holding the door".

They know they are superior creatures, he was waiting for the red carpet to be rolled out! We could learn a thing or two from kitties.

Oh! There is this little book about such a cat, I read it to my nephews. Its hilarious. I'll have to find it.

When I was younger we were cat people, we counted once, with kittens and all, we had 15 felines.

I know, crazy.

We had all kinds of critters coming in and out of our house when I was growing up. I don't know how my mom did it. Some of the kitties were ours to keep and some were kittens to give away. I had one cat named Boots, that was the first time I really loved an animal. Long haired grey tabby with 4 white feet. He was beautiful!

Except he apprently had a strong aversion to the cat box. He would pee all around the perimeter of my room, just like a dog.

We had "Sir Oliver"....He wore a tuxedo jacket with white shirt. He had the ultra cool outlook on life. My best friend would always kiss him on the nose and I kept telling her that she was getting above her raising with him. :-) One day he bit her...:-=
Just a love bite, but a bite nonetheless.

We had "Newman Marcus", TigerEyes, Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, Jose Murdoch (after J.J. Cale's drummer) Bro Cephus, Sally, Grey Cat and I can't recall the others. How shocking!

TeddyJack is named after Leon Russell's son.
Fayeroe meant "Faye" for a past president of Planned Parenthood and "roe" was for Roe vs. Wade.

We don't go for ordinary names, obviously....I had nothing to do with naming Sally and Grey Cat!!

Haha, thats somthing that you can remember all those names. And they are not ordinary! I'm embaressed to say, I remember 2, Boots, and Penny, Penny was just one of those sweet little girl kitties, the color of copper. My aunt named her cat Vanna white.

Oh, and when we (brothers and I) were really small my parents saved two kittens from a most unfortunate passing on my Great Grand parents farm, what they did back then i geuss.
Parents named them "Jack" and "John". I never thought about it....JFK maybe? Either that or my parents were really boring back then. Ha

My little brother 6" 7', had a cat when he was 17 or so, it was beautiful, all white, he named it Stoney, and thats all we'll say about that, lol.
