I was just in the shower and came out to brush my teeth. While the water is running, I hear my Mom call out my name distinctly.
I absolutely believed she somehow got off work early and was calling me. When I was done I went to look for her. I searched the house and she isn't here. Her shoes aren't here either so she must still be at work. Then I though maybe it was her leaving a message on the answering machine, but nope, no new messages!
I heard my name so clearly!
It was kind of cool, I'd admit LOL. My first hallucination!
Maybe I'm just tired. I went to bed at 11 pm and woke up at 3 am and couldn't fall back asleep so I stayed up.
Maybe some people would say it was a ghost or something. LOL I don't believe in ghosts though.
Has this happened to anyone else? What did you think of the experience?

Sometimes I'm sure I hear the phone ringing when I'm in the shower, only to find out that it's not. I think there must be something in the sound of the water as it goes down the drain because I "hear" the phone all the time.
I remember, when I was young, KNOWING I heard my Papaw calling my name. Thing was, he'd just died. But, I understand that that is a relatively common experience when someone has lost a loved one.
I'm sorry you're a little freaked. It's probably nothing, though. If you continue to feel unsettled, maybe you could give your mom a call at work, just to be sure.

I just did some quick research into this phenomenon and it turns out it wasn't a true hallucination because the water was running and I was brushing my teeth when I heard my name. In true hallucinations, one will hear one's name in a silent room. My brain simply misperceived the sounds I was hearing. So it actually isn't special. It's quite commonplace to hear your name.
Boo. LOL I thought I had a cool experience, but it turns out it was just a mediocre experience. rofl
Come on already, I wanna see some ghosts! rofl
