video game system history....

Posted by rjlockhart37 on January 31, 2013, at 14:45:30

well im waiting for the next game system to come...i'm seriously sick of seeing ps3 and xbox all the time...microsoft and sony really dominate the game market....

but anyways, i've actually got a unfinished collection of old systems...the Nitendo original, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, and playstation 1....

let me talk about these systems...the original nitendo system...you know the old mario games, the 8bit technology....it was really popular when it was released in 1985....everyone had one and if you had you where cool....i mean if you walked into a electronic store...it was everywhere....

1989 sega released the genesis...and it became ahead of NES...it had 16bit technology...better graphics, it looked more like a cartoon...the games they had drawings and art designs on them....then nitendo released the super nitendo, or better known as the SNES which did do good, but still it war'd with sega until the next generation games of 32bit came out...

playstation...when playstation game out...sega was already gettting reading to release the Sega Saturn...and I have to say...it was a big dissappoinment, the graphics on Saturn...they where 32bit...but it had bulky looking 3d images that where not sophisticated like Playstation....and PS1 blew sega out the water..Saturn is good system, but it failed bad on the release, the games where not as good as playstation, still you could find a good game but playstation had 1000s of games to choose from and saturn only had a couple hundred. And then in 1997 Sega stated they where abandoning the project of saturn...then they moved to dreamcast which did better than it in sales, but still got bad rep.

PS2 and Nitendo 64 again blew sega out the water....my dad got me a PS2 god it was so advanced, when i first turned it on...i stated at start screen...advanced 3d graphic for the time which was 2000. Dreamcast still was a vary good system, but Sega got the rep of the failure of Saturn and people became skeptical of Sega...so i think in the early 2000's sega stopped making their consule systems...they don't have anymore...they only make game now for current companies.

So we'll have to see what comes up, PS3 really was just another level of PS2....it didnt really have any major changes expect in graphics and some advancedments in their games....it wasnt really a brand new like technology system...but after that the Wii....that made history just like sega genesis did, it was first of its kinda to use movement of body with the remote game handle....hopefully they will come out with a more advanced...maybe like 3d, still I love to read about past video game systems.

Hope i gave a short short summery of it....

anyone like anything in paticular today?

The really fun thing is now you can get emulators that run on your computer that let you play NES and SNES and all the older console systems, even up to PS2 on your computer. Right now I'm playing Legend of Zelda and Castlevania and Renegade on NES. I love playing NES games; I didn't have a lot of money when I was young so I never owned a lot of cartridges but now it's so much fun to play the games I liked and wanted. I even download and read Nintendo Power magazine for the maps and tips just like when I was younger!

That's a nice history of video gaming you wrote. Like I told you rj -- your brain works just fine. I really wish you'd come off the heavy doses of Prozac and Zyprexa and Lamictal you're on -- all they will do is worsen incredibly your inattention and motivation. You have a unique cognitive style that pdocs could misdiagnose as any number of things, but I don't see any evidence of psychosis from what you write at least. It's possible your stimulant use simply addressed your ADHD and made you more productive, more than any mood-elevation effects they had. There's non-stimulant ADHD meds you could try but they would have a hard time working against heavy-duty meds like what you're on. I think you could do a lot of things that will have you feeling better if you worked on the ADHD inattention and distraction stuff and dumped the other meds.

There's a massive following of older games -- like millions of people playing games that came out when they were just kids. If you've got a broadband connection you can go here: http://twitch.tv A lot of people video stream themselves playing video games and it's fun to watch and chat with others who share your interest. It's a good way to socialize without the negative stress of real life meetings.
