again :-)
i think getting new socks is like getting a baby - but reversed. they say that you forget having a baby... the pain of it. you forget it. otherwise you wouldn't have any more.
i think they joy of having new socks is like that. you forget how continuously nice new socks are every freaking step. otherwise... you'd buy new socks every week, now, wouldn't you?
i don't think that makes any sense...

I got some black ones. And I got some blue ones. For the gym / to wear with sneakers. Almost as good as having new sneakers :-)

In the winter, I like to get wool socks - the smart wool kind that sports stores sell. Now they sell all kinds of colors and patterns. they're pricey, but I love having nice socks that aren't all solid colors. The only problem is, so does my daughter and she's always stealing my socks when she visits!

I like stripy socks. And wool socks are nice, yeah. Merino wool socks are specially nice... But I haven't had a pair of those for a few years, now.
I need to spend less money on food and more money on replacing my wardrobe. It really is in a dismal state. I think I'm at the borderline of social acceptability, really. Have been for a few years now, honestly. Need to do something about it, though. In preparation for my interview... Hard to explain why it will take me months to work myself up to it... But it will, in fact.

You know... It is odd... But that was what I didn't see in my sock hunting.
I usually check out the outdoor adventure types of stores because they have decent wool socks in more colour options than black, brown, and grey. Merino wool, more in particular. Sometimes I strike it lucky and can find clearance guys ones that are too small for them / just right for me / in bold colours - which I like.
I suppose they fetch more $$ overseas these days. We only seemed to have... the usual nylon / elastine / semi fluffy polyester kind of a deal... In a pretty pretty package with different coloured panels and 'high tech' specifications... Imported all the way from... Doesn't matter where.
Generally... We get really ripped off for clothes. Quality fabrics are priced well out of reach. Cheap polyester made in china or whatever that have sports branding or outdoor adventure store branding are expensive. And anything else... Really is just plain nasty. Still... Used to be able to find wool... It is winter here, too... I wonder what happened to it all...
