The Captain

The captain was so well-composed,
No guest could ever tell
How very close the ship had come
To tipping in the swell.

Bright-eyed, he presided,
With his imperial calm.
His quick, dry wit distracted us
From the increasing storm.

Nor did he show great worry--
Just a little frown--
When the hull split open
And all of us went down.

Leadership, yeah.
I've been thinking about that...
I went to a talk by a politician the other day. And I find myself wondering a lot of our leadership 'how can they let this and that go by and say nothing?'
And perhaps it is that they think that it is better they put on a brave face for the public.
Perhaps because... They think there isn't anything to be gained by panicking about it all.
People would sometimes prefer to be spared from knowledge of risks etc.

Just some thoughts I think.

Beautiful, again. I haven't read poetry in the longest time.
