I would like to know what dosages of Abilify people are taking and what illness is being treated.
I'm having a difficult time determining the best dosage of Abilify to treat my bipolar depression. For now, I am taking 15 mg/day. The problem is this: Every time I adjust the dosage - up or down - I feel better for a few days followed by a deterioration back to where I started. I had been at 10 mg/day for a bunch of years. I tried going to 20 mg/day and felt good for a few days. However, after a week, I felt flat, sleepy, and dysphoric. These things did not disappear with continued treatment. So, I decided to decrease the dosage to 15 mg/day. The side effects disappeared and I experienced a significant improvement in depression that lasted for three days. It has been a week, and I am feeling pretty bad. I plan on staying at 15 mg/day until I see my doctor next week.
Some doctors use different dosages based upon the illness being treated:
1. Depression - 2-5 mg/day
2. Mania - 10 mg/day
3. Schizophrenia / Schizoaffective - 20 mg/dayI would be grateful for any input.
Thanks.
