It wasn't magic, but some of her is inside me.
She also said (which I never understood really) 'There is no growth without pain'. If that makes sense to me it is that love and loss inevitably involve pain.

I remembered something I read about mourning........that it is our way of keeping the loved one alive inside us, and it hurts.
