The art of (Google) searching?

Posted by Lamdage22 on September 9, 2019, at 10:25:17

Do you guys use fancy ways to google like + - OR and so on? I am reading a paper from university on how to inform oneself in a scientific way. I need to write an essay but i would also like to search other stuff more effectively!

I would not consider myself an expert on google searching.

I have been to university library workshops and seminars where people have talked about how they got their undergraduate or graduate students doing literature reviews. The aim for these seemed to be to come up with fancy google search terms so they ended up with a finite list that was able to ALL be trawled by coders to determine 'relevance' or similar.

I might use google scholar if I wanted to limit the search to more traditionally 'academic' things.

I had some information about medical databases... I guess I will have a look.

Something came up... Vitamin C and copper as a co-factor for tyrosinase...

Only... The people with scurvy didn't turn albino -- did they?

The absense of evidence is not the same as evidence of absense... But people would have noticed and reported that, pretty sure.

Whatevers.

No. I have much trouble getting Google to refrain from providing all kinds of irrelevant hits. I am sure it ignores me when I say things like 'and not this phrase' and 'only give me hits with BOTH these terms'.

I supppose I am doing it wrong.

I should already now google crack codes, or gadgets, or all i do know is "word" will find the exact phrase, go on google and maybe look up the codes
