1) i enjoyed learning about WWI dissention literature. wilfred owen. etc. when i did school certificate (now ncea level 1) literature...
i wanted to do a 'special study' in pink floyd...

WWI is the interesting one. Just a few years ago I read yet another on that even more worse than useless conflict. Great way of dealing with depression for me.
Loved Wilfred Owen at school, then Siegried Sassoon. The 'Regeneration Trilogy' by Pat Barker has them as characters in some mental hospital while Sassoon tries to decide whether he would rather fight in the war or endure the home front. He goes back, having thrown his military medals in a river. The psychiatrist, Rivers, is a gem.
I heard a podcast saying that the Jesus story was a retelling on earth of an esoteric myth about the same thing in the heavens. Without doubt we need salvation.

There is this to be said about WWI. It may have saved the world from worse. A few years before HG Wells was asked about the 'brown people'. He replied 'I assume the will all just have to go.' So Europe got to tear itself to bits instead. Reminds me of today and what may be to come.
