so when covid hit there were no new jury trials.
that freed up a lot of the courts time. i would imagine.
they chose to pull a few judges out of retirement to write judgments for various cases.
i got judges that were pulled out of retirement.
i imagine the reason for that (for their 'temporary appointment') is because there will be little to no consequences to them should they voluntarily choose to write judgments that lack the most basic conception of justice and the most basic understanding of the laws of new zealand and the most basic understanding of international obligations.
i mean... what are they going to do? fire them?
know what you never see... law studnents in the court room. why? because our court rooms are a joke. the entire proceedings.

joke.
we don't have a functioning judiciary.
