This is the class I've failed before, from not studying. I thought I got 71% during the test. I got 85%!
I got 48/56.
OMG, wait just a sec. I just checked the website and the prof decided to make the test out of 54 and I got an extra bonus mark so I got 49 points.
I just checked my grade online and I have 91%! OMG, I'm in the 90's!
I'm happy.

I can't wait to tell my pdoc! She told me not to aim for an A+ because organic chem is a difficult course, but by golly, I think I am going to aim for an A+!
It would be sooo cool if I can go from getting an F in this class to an A+. What a difference studying and actually going to tests makes!
Maybe I'm not as dumb as I thought I was.

Deneb, you ROCK!!!
Keep up the good work! Don't worry about every single grade, remember that the final grade is an average. Even A students get b's and c's on some exams and assignments.

Congratulations, Deneb. You've done a good job, and I give you the Racer Seal of Approval -- just feed it lots of herrings and it'll be happy...
I hope you don't worry about the grade, though. I've found that that sort of thinking tends to lead to a very bad place, where I've decided I'll only be satisfied by much more than I can actual accomplish -- in other words, that sort of thing can set one up for failure and feeling bad and self-loathing, etc. It's been much better for me to focus on learning as best I can, and doing as well as I can to reflect the fact that I've learned it when it comes to exams. Added benefit to that is that I do tend to get As, although I've never yet had an A+ in college. Maybe one day I will, but I'm satisfied with a plain A.
I've even survived finally getting a B.
If I said I was proud of you, Deneb, I'd feel as though I was patronizing you. I'm not in any position to be "proud of you," but I am very, very pleased for you, and if I was in a position which would make it appropriate, I would certainly be proud of you.
(Hm... By the way, I would be proud of you on this one not because you got over 90%, but because you've worked so hard. THAT is the part that impresses me, not the resulting grade.)

Thanks Llurpsie!
I'm just going to aim to learn the material as well as I can. Hopefully I will get another A, but it'll be OK if I don't.

Thanks Racer!
Focusing on learning is a good idea. I'll do that. I'll try not to expect A's so I don't get disappointed if I don't get one.
I've gotten A+'s before in university, but I've also gotten F's. I'll aim to pass. If I get A's that'll be a bonus.
This is the end of the thread.
