my neighbor burns truck loads of plastic garbage bags filled with various waste products.. much of which is plastic jugs styrofoam cups, nylon, and anything else one should have the intelligents not to burn... well, our whole house stunk of burning plastic yesterday for hours and i'm wondering if there are any possible health effects that kind of exposure can have... i feel dizzy and foggy in the head right now, but i can't be sure because i'm something of a hypocondriac (well, not quite, but i am paranoid). but seriously, i don't feel of mind and i have a pain deep down in my chest.
some answers would be nice.. it seemed this was the appropriate section to post such a question.

Burning plastic and styrofoam can release toxins that, in sufficient quanities, can make you sick. Go to the ER if you have chest pain; that's nothing to fool around with.

One toxin released is cyanide. Carcinogens too numerous to list. Benzene, substituted toluenes, chlorinated hydrocarbons similar to pesticides....I'm just scratching the surface.
Report the guy, every time he does it. Your air should not be his garbage can.

thank you larry, for your expertise..this sounded illegal to me, but i had no idea as to the severity of it...i know burning anything in our area (including leaves) is prohibited by a by-law. wasn't sure about the health aspects of it though...thanks again...
