How do you get treatment when you have no $ ?

Posted by hrtlm on January 30, 2004, at 19:15:24

I have no $ and my Medicare benefits (from a disability) don't start until March. I need some serious help! My addiction happens to be gambling, and I am in the midst of a major binge. In the past 24 hours, I have gambled away all my cash and available credit ($9,000). I am on SSDI, so there's no way I can pay this all back. Help! Would a treatment center accept me, just as they would an alcoholic. I don't know where to turn; I just know I'm frantic.

I do not recall the exact name of them but I think there are two free organazations that can help you see google or call information for their numbers but debtors anonymous (sp) and also gamblers Anonymous...they can help you in many ways I am sure. OR CALL AA they can help you find these two places near you...Good luck

Oddly enough, there should be numbers on almost all types of gambling tickets, etc., stating that if you feel you have a problem with gambling, call this number. Do a google search for Gamblers Anonymous or Gambling Anonymous. A portion of proceeds from some casinos go to fund programs like those.

Good Luck,
There is life after bad credit, once you stop the gambling.
