ecstasy and aropax/paxil

Posted by xmen on March 24, 2004, at 18:17:30

i am currently on aropax (paxil) for depression. it's working fine, and i've been on it for a while, i actually plan to stop using it soon.

i have tried ecstasy a number of times in the last few months, but it has absolutely no effect on me. so while my friends seem to be having a party in their head around me, i'm left wondering how normal i am.

i have tried other rec drugs occasionally and they are fine. i smoke pot regularly and it also doesn't seem to interact with the aropax.

strange... anyone else had this experience?

I hardly ever felt anything off of 1 E pill. My friends would be practically drooling all over themselves and I would just sit there and be like, "I hardly got a buzz". Everybody responds to E differently. Drugs are bad for you.

I always assumed that if you took Paxil and ecstasy it would have a fatal effect. Is this not so?

I'm a n00b on this forum so I guess this is a good way to start :-).

I'm on Aropax and have personally never tried ecstasy so don't know if it would work on me or not but this may shed some light on why it may not work at all or may not work as well if you are on SSRI's like (Aropax)Paroxetine/(Cipramil)Citalopram HBr/(Prozac)Fluoxetine, etc: whttp://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_info9.shtml

http://www.erowid.org/ is a fantastic un-biased resource for alot of different substances, legal or otherwise, it details good and bad experiences on substances and provides alternate sources.

One thing I do know about MDMA (ecstasy) use is that if you use it with Alcohol you are an idiot :-). You shouldn't mix Alcohol with alot of drugs, especially GHB, Benzos, Painkills, Barbs and even weed.

If you're going to do drugs, do some research, be a responsible drug user, don't take risks, get your ecstasy from someone you trust and if possible test it with a testing kit or something for traces of PMA (http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/pma/pma.shtml).
I think these DARE idiots and other anti-drug, war on drug people should stop being dimwits and promote safe drug use (weather it be legal or otherwise) and not be hypocritical f-ks and only promote a biased view towards illicit drugs but not even mention the dangers of legal drugs.

I've seen my Sister OD on Pericyzine and watching someone you love getting their stomach pumped, the charcol treatment and them throwing up the whole time while holding their hand isn't a pretty sight.

Whats the stance on bad language on this board? I'm Aussie so sometimes I swear just out of habit, for that I apologise :-)

I'm new and trying to detox. I'm going through the flu-like symptoms and really tired. Is is physically dangerous for me to try to detox on my own? I work but have a 12-pack/beer a night habit. Really tired and want to return to the living. Any insight or successful hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You're trying to detox off paxil? Under normal circumstances this is a very difficult process and should be supervised by your doctor, family and friends.

With your 12-beers-a-night habit this is potentially very dangerous.

Please see your doctor. Perhaps the beer and the paxil is what is making you tired. Please seek the help you need, especially from your doctor, as well as your family and friends. It is very possible for you to 'return to the living' if you break your habits and go throuh the detox process properly.

By the way, if you have a doctor who isnt supportive of you trying to quit the drinking, or detox from paxil, then find another one. As long as you're not running away from what you dont want to hear.

Good luck. Let us know how you go
