I used to get MDMA when it was legal in NYC. They had bars/clubs that would serve it in drinks called 'Smart Drinks', all kinds of chems, no restrictions. Funny though, I can't remember anybody dying, even freak-outs were rare. I took it alot back then and my only negative was tolerance and an occasional hangover, I wouldn't take that much now, I was a kid back then.

E was legal in the early 80s. It started getting a bad rap because of an herbal Ecstacy that was mostly effedrine and caffiene started killing some college kids. They had already been looking at the smart clubs on the upper westside and the village. Ex actually became popular as a club drug after it was scheduled I.

What part of the west coast?
Some states over your way already have new laws about growing and possessing medical marijuana. California, Nevada, Oregon and Vancouver BC is over there. I haven't researched lately because I live in NY where it seems like it will never be legal, but they were issuing licenses to grow with a docs note- 8 plants. For MS, glaucoma, AIDS, cancer, artheritis, many, many conditions.
Check Overgrow.com for the laws in your state. Caution, although some states have legalized it, the federal government does not recognize it and people have been prosecuted federally. But local police will leave you alone, I've seen it, it's like Bizzarro World. My friends in Calif. had a domestic and the police came in and just ignored the plants with a license on the door to the room.
Then my friend did bong hits right in front of the police!

Bizarro World is when the government will go to the Supreme Court trying to take away people's medication, despite the fact Californian's voted they should be able to have it, but when we were getting scammed by Enron that was a problem for the state.
