well...I dunno.
I worry that I am harming myself. Yeah, My last checkup I was healthy and all as far as blood tests go, but I dunno...how long can that last drinking like I do on weekends? During the week I dont partake, but the weekends I usually drink about 20 drinks friday through sunday...not good.

I think you have very good reason to be concerned.

Does your doctor know about the drinking? I hear welbutrin and booze don't mix.
How hard would it be to stop?

I dont think it will be that hard for me.
When you say they dont mix, do you mean that they negate each others' effects, or something else? My doctor said to just keep any drinking in moderation.

It's actually the risk of seizures. Wellbutrin mixed with alcohol increases that risk.

Yeah, It wouldnt be a bad idea to cut down. This past weekend I only went out saturday night, so that was a good thing.

actually, I think you would do well to talk to your doc about moderating the drinking in a measured way... I swear I read somewhere that if you take Wellbutrin you shouldn't "abruptly stop" drinking or smoking..And that it has something to do with the risk of seizures caused by sudden chemical changes....
I'm not positive, but I believe that I'm remembering correctly enough that I'd talk it over with my doctor for myself...

I remember that now. It's in the literature that comes with it and is also probably one of the warnings on tv.

I was merely lurking here- hope you all don't mind- just trying to "understand" addiction to mind altering substances, since it is something my significant other is fighting.
AuntieMel knows this. I hope no one is offended that I jumped on that thread- my mothering instinct just jumped out- protect, protect, protect...

Matt,
You might not want to test the limits of when the drinking will cause harm to your body. I had a clean bill of health for years of active drinking (and using) and then suddenly my liver enzymes were dangerously high in a blood screening. I was working toward scirrosis and I'm not yet even 30 years of age.
Bottom line - be smart about it, especially with the meds issue.
Just my 2 cents

No, You guys are definitely right.
I guess I just wonder how much is too much? For real though, not the published amounts.

Many people drink and learn their own limits and find that they can live healthy productive lives at the same time. Others find that any alcohol is too much. I suppose that there isn't a direct answer to your question. I think that the fact that alcohol is legal makes it much more tolerated than street drugs, but don't let that be a justification for abusing it. This is just my opinion. Be smart & safe.

if even YOU are worried about the amount you drink, it is too much in my opinion.
Drinking an alcoholic beverage should be a pleasurable blip in your day/night- not the entire point of your day/night. In my opinion, anyway.

Hi
Spread over the whole week it wouldn't be so bad. If it was two bottles of vodka a day....

it got worse, up to a bottle a day, most days, while working fulltime...
then while we were on a mini-vacation last weekend, we had a silly argument. He was so out of control that he tried to strangle me...
I'd say that's a problem... I am moving into a new apt tomorrow and won't try to work anything through with him until he's sober AND has gone through an anger management class...
I'd say that deciding that it would need to be two bottles a day to be a problem is a slight miscalculation... unless of course you know that you're with a loser like me who won't press charges for assault. And who sill loves the guy... sigh...
This is the end of the thread.
