In your opinion, how does group psychotherapy differ from the activity of a mutual support group?

Dear used2b,
Thanks so much for the question. You can find an extended discussion of this question in my book, which I will shamelessly promote given the invitation of your question. Check the URL:

The short answer to your question:
Group psychotherapy is all crosstalk, a mutual support group is no crosstalk.
Hope this is useful.
Warmly,
Jeffrey D. Roth, MD
