Was lurking on the site off and on for months and finally registered tonight. Husband out of town and the kids are asleep. I am sober. Had some drinks this afternoon but slept and am wide awake now. I found an old scrip for Wellbutrin and thought I would take it with some atavan to help me with my alcohol problem that has been getting worse lately but decided maybe valium would be better. What happens if I mix them--Not planning to, of course, but I am sure it could happen? Thanks so much for all your candid answers and support that I have been witnessing.

Hi, and welcome to Babble! Glad you have decided to post. Are you thinking of using valium to help detox from alcohol?
How long have you been drinking and what kind of quantities?
I can only speak from my personal experience - I had 20 years of daily drinking, sometimes to the point of passing out; and I detoxed myself at home. Luckily I had no bad experiences and it just felt like I had the flu for about 2 weeks.I think if you're planning to use valium to help with the withdrawls you might want to let your doctor know, in case you're at risk for seizures.
Good luck - keep us informed on how you are doing.
