I keep drinking ... two weeks without, and then I went out last night and got more-or-less hammered. Well, I didn't black out, but the night is definitely fuzzy.
Thank god I didn't do anything else.
I am getting out of New York -- it is just not healthy for me here.
I know I've asked this before, but can a few months of heavy drinking -- say once or twice per week -- cause permanent brain damage, dementia, or other long-lasting side-effects? I'm worried now because I feel like crap today, and have felt a bit "off" lately in general.
It's probably just a hangover, but I hope I didn't do any permanent damage this time...

What made last night different than the 13 nights that came before?

I suppose.

The geographic cure doesn't work, ya know. No matter where you go, it so happens that you come along.

You're supposed to feel like crap after a binge. <wink>

Larry,
I have been having mixed thoughts lately, a general slowness, and some oddness with my short-term memory. Would these be indicative of damage from alcohol intake, or dimentia? Now I'm worried I have some sort of dimentia that is irreversible from the alcohol I've had over the past few months. :-(
(I have been clean for two weeks now.)

Everybody has slow periods.
I'm glad you're clean for two weeks.
And you'll extend that time, one day at a time.
One hour at a time, if you need to focus that closely.
One minute at a time, if the effort grows great.
I've been down to one second.
Now, I've got 8 years, 2 weeks and some odd. My "birthday" was May 18. Totally forgot about it.

Congratulations on that, Larry. We are all better off for it. :-)
