I wish I could drink it everyday but I tend to save it for the weekends when I have some time to myself. I find it's as strong as 2 percodan (one poppy) but much nicer. Occasionally I'll knock my socks off with some raw opium...YUM. Anyone else out there in the know?
Oh yeah, anyone have any recipies for laudinum, I soak grounds in warm grain alcohol and it's only 'OK'.
Make your own meds, it's fun!!!

One large poppy pod (ground 10 sec. in coffee grinder)
8oz. boiling water
Put water and grounds in a Bodum french press
Let steep for 5min.
push plunger strain the teaUsed grounds may be recycled once more for an almost equally potent cup of tea.
one cup equals the strength of two percodan(oxycodone)

Thanks for the recipe. I ground the seeds and put them through an Italian coffee maker. I drank it but nothing happened. Perhaps I'm not using the right kind of poppy

Use the empty, dry pods-not seeds.
Papaver Somniferum only.

Fun, but kind of addictive. Many gardeners grow poppies and don't even know it's illegal because seeds are available everywere, ask around if you have any gardening freinds. Police will not enforce the law unless they see something fishy going on, poppies are a beautiful flower that is very easy to grow. Pods are available at any dry flower vender, just a little reasearch will direct you to the most popular strains used for poppy tea. Online stores like Poppies International make it quite easy to accquire the best strains. Please enjoy, but do not overindulge. Medhed.

Equivalent of pods vs. oxy is contingent on the strength of the pods used. Pod strength varies greatly. Amount of rain, sun light, soil quality, of course seed strain used.......... Many things. No good way to answer that other than to say experiment VERY CAREFULLY. Start low and work it from there, assuming an increase is required.
Remember, you can always go up. You can not, however, go down, because depending on how badly you over did it you may not even be breathing.
There is no hard and fast answer/equation for that question. Be wary of people who give you an exact ratio, because they do NOT know what they are talking about and could get you hurt, BAD. Be careful, be cool and have fun! Peace, Cathy - www.poppycentral.com

Just curious, is it possible to do work (writing) or be social under the effects of poppy tea?
