Just thought I'd let you all know that my mood is getting better, and the depressive fog is lifting. Not at full speed, but certainly not miserable either.
Thanks for all your support.
I'm not going to let myself slip again.

That's great news, AMD. That is the good thing about being down; that you can go up again.

Wonderful news!
Your next assignment is to check in here every day with an update. Try writing something creative, too, to exercise the brain.

My brain gets enough exercise at work! Just kidding.
So, I'll post a puzzle.
What does this do?
print join( "|", ( ( join( ",", sort { $a <=> $b } map { $_ =~ s/INTEGER: //; chomp($_); $_ } @ports ) . "," ) =~ m/(\d+),(?:\1,)+/g ) );
(There's a much easier way to do this, by the way.)

Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you.

> Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you.
> CSI feel off the wagon Thursday, went drinking, and did cocaine. Missed work Friday, and I'm feeling horrible today (Sunday). God, why do I do this to myself? I was feeling so clear-headed, mellow, relaxed ... and today I feel sooooooo sad and alone, as if I've not only betrayed myself, but my friends and family as well.
Not to mention missing work, which just makes me even more anxious.
On the one hand, I think, well, you went a month. It's time to pick yourself up and start again.
But on the other hand, I think, you f***ing failure, you're never going to beat this. My mind is filling with those thoughts of dread: brain damage, concentration is gone forever, health worries ... everything you've worked for has just completely vanished. And the sad thing is, after a month I'd felt some of those things returning.
Why do I keep doing this? I don't understand how I can feel so bad, so /low/, and then only a few weeks later completely forget the consequences.
Am I without hope?
Is there anything I can take to calm me down, lift this depression in the meantime? Or is it, as always, a waiting game?

That makes it so difficult to stay straight? I made it through OK but at times it was a rough ride. I must say that having my doctor add Campral to my cocktail has made this much, much easier. Like I can rest a whole portion of my brain because I'm not thinking about Having To Stay Sober. That takes a huge amount of energy for me!! This med feels like it's giving my head a rest from worrying and preoccupation.
Maybe it's something to consider??
best wishes,
ClearSkies
