HowLongDoesTHCItself(NotMetabolites)RemainInBody?

Posted by Eric B on December 3, 2005, at 8:36:56

I have read on the net that THC itself leaves the body pretty quickly while the metabolites can remain for a long time. My therapist however says that it is the THC itself too that remains for a long time, up to 90 days or even longer. Which is true and does anyone have any link to objective good quality research about this that I could show him in case he is wrong?

Kind regards
Eric

I have found this site very useful:

http://my.marijuana.com/content.php3

Cannabinoids can be detected in the urine for 3 to 30+ days.

The half-life of THC concentration ranges between 0.8 to 9.8 days. Generally, there is too much individual variation to approximate how long THC will be detected in the urine. Infrequent users with a fast metabolism will have the shortest detection times. Frequent users with a slow metabolism will have long detection times.

The most effective method for decreasing the detection time period of cannabinoids is by increasing your metabolism:

Such as...

1) Physical activity can increase your metabolic rate as much as 2,000%! Nothing beats proper training taken to an extreme!

2) A high calorie diet is the next best way to increase metabolism. Consuming massive quantities of high calorie food increases metabolic rate by 10%. On the contrary, a poor diet could lower your metabolism by 10%.

3) Speed (i.e. psychostimulants) increases metabolism. Unfortunately, labs usually test for speed too.

4) Drink at least eight 8 fluid-ounce glasses of H2O per day to help rid your body of the toxins and metabolites that have accumulated in the fatty tissues. Drinking lots of water also dilutes the urine, which further increases your chance of passing your test.

Exercise vigoriously, frequently, and with a lot of intensity. And eat big.

The last time I smoked was 11/29/05. After waiting 5 days, I purchased two FDA approved "AtHome Drug Test for Marijuana" kits to screen myself for THC. The test done on 12/04 was negative. The test done on 12/5 was negative too. I passed both times, which is amazing given I last smoked on 11/29!!

Like ya'll say here, you're mileage may vary.

Depending on the accumulated levels in your body, anywhere from a few days to well over a month or more. As many have said exercise can reduce the time to cleanliness, saunas are also quite good. I have heard niacine can help out although be sure to not use the newer stuff which doesn't flush. Negative of this is the redness, sometimes rash from lots of toxins in your system, and the darn heat. Of course nothing ever beats abstinence. Don't ever underestimate the power of mind set, if you envision yourself as being free for THC then your body can adapt to make that a reality. Sounds crazy I know but I have seen it work.
